昨年、argyle street tea room がアートワークを手掛けた、ピッチチュナー Pitchtuner の新しいアルバム "riding the fire"。

The new album is called 'Riding The Fire' and truly bears the ideological depth in the name. Pitchtuner never have surrendered to newest hypes such as New Rave at these days. Moreover, they stepped, ran, flew their own way. That is why 'Riding The Fire' is once again a Disco Rock album, but does not either serve distorted sounds as heard for the last 6 month nor has it got twisted Neo Punk attitude. It is just Pitchtuner, fresh and lively again.

すてきでないわけないだろう

何年ものあいだ探していた CD をやっと手に入れた。
ジャズピアニスト屋良文雄さんの「カルテッドライブ」。
いまはもうない渋谷ジャンジャン jean-jean での1998年のライブ録音盤だ。

沖縄ジャズの草分的存在である屋良文雄さん。那覇の「寓話」と言う名のジャズクラブのオーナーでもあって、今でも毎晩のようにステージにたちピアノを奏でている。
那覇を訪れたときは、必ず久茂地のその寓話で、おだやかでリズミカルで、とびきりやさしくて愉快なその音楽を聴く。そして、ビートに委ねるようにカラダを揺らす。もちろん、美味しい島料理と泡盛はかかせない。

「沖縄のジャズは、ほかにはないジャズなんだよ。」
と語る屋良さん。

繰り返し聴く CD の音には、沖縄ジャズのエッセンスが詰まっている。大洋から届くおおらかで自由な南風をそこから感じることができる。

このライブ盤のラストナンバーは、スティービー・ワンダー Stevie Wonder の「Isn't she lovely」。屋良さんの定番。たくさんの愛が詰まった、ぼくの大好きな曲だ。
